Author’s Note
This book is not an argument.
It is not a prediction.
And it is not a set of instructions.
It is an attempt to name something many of us are already living.
Over recent years, familiar structures have begun to feel less reliable.
Not because they failed, but because the world they were designed for has changed.
Clear roles are softening.
External authority feels less certain.
Linear paths no longer behave as expected.
For some, this brings excitement.
For others, discomfort.
For many, both at once.
The story that follows uses the metaphor of education, not to speak about schools, but about transition. About what it feels like when we move from being guided to being responsible. From waiting for direction to learning how to listen, relate, and choose for ourselves.
You won’t find answers here in the traditional sense.
What you may find instead are patterns you recognise.
Moments where you notice yourself:
waiting for clarity that doesn’t arrive
feeling drawn back toward familiar authority or old habits
experiencing unease when certainty dissolves
trusting those who are calm rather than loud
learning faster through shared experience than formal direction
The New World School is not a place we enter all at once.
We move through it gradually.
Sometimes confidently.
Sometimes reluctantly.
Graduation, in this sense, is not about having finished learning.
It is about noticing when we have stopped waiting to be told who we are allowed to become.
